The LS2 FF800 STORM is the new motorcycle helmet from the Spanish helmet brand, LS2 Helmets. The LS2 Storm helmet is a full face sport-touring helmet with a sporty look and a shell made from KPA, a polymer alloy and thermoplastic resin combined. This helmet is lightweight and has a high penetration resistance, but with some flexibility for ultimate energy dispersion during an impact.
LS2 Helmets created their proprietary helmet shell material Kinetic Polymer Alloy (KPA). It uses nanotechnology to stretch and shrink aramid fibers down to where cross-sections are about 1 BILLIONTH of an inch thick and then encases them in a high-end polymer. You essentially end up with an aramid fiber shell encased in polymer. The video below explains how KPA might be the best material ever developed for building a helmet shell. KPA tests as well or better than the best of the best traditional composites. It's lightweight, has some designed-in flexibility for energy management, and has a penetration resistance that meets or exceeds the best-known composites in the world. This unique formula meets both ECE 22.05 and DOT standards.
The exterior shell design of the LS2 FF800 Storm takes advantage of several aerodynamic principles to use wind energy in favor of the rider, both professional and amateur. The shape of the shell and ventilation ports helps maintain stability while riding and renewing the air inside the helmet efficiently. The shell comes in two shell sizes and weighs about 1400 +/- 50 grams on the small size helmet.
If you are accustomed to the LS2 wide angle of view visors and have anti-scratch and anti-ultraviolet ray protection, this model is no different. The helmet visor has a quick extraction system without the need for a tool. It is built with 3D Optically Correct "A Class" Polycarbonate that offers maximum clarity and a space-age polymer with high resistance to the impact. And is Pinlock ready, which, by the way, is not included in the package. We can't leave out the sun visor. Like any good sport-touring helmet, the sun visor is very useful and easy to operate. The helmet is well ventilated; it has front air inlets on the top part and the chin bar, and a rear outlet for good airflow.
The LS2 FF800 Storm has a configured multi-density Expanded Polystyrene Foam (EPS) liner and is a very comfortable helmet with ergonomic and antibacterial inner liners. The liners also allow eyeglasses to fit in your helmet and can be removed and washed. The helmet includes a chin curtain and breath guard as a standard. The helmet security features a micrometric steel buckle with a reinforced chin strap to obtain a perfect fit to your head.
If you're looking for a helmet for long journeys, it might well be worth bearing in mind the new LS2 FF800 Storm helmet. It's a helmet perfect for long or short trips around town. LS2 Storm offers performance and features costing two to three times as much. But because it was built in LS2's own factory, LS2 offers it at an incredible value of 4,750 pesos (mono) and 4,950 pesos (graphics). *Prices may change without prior notice.
